Patents - Plastic Nettings

Patents were crucial to the growth, development and success of the Plastic Nettings Industry.  Mercer's extruded diamond net business inspired hundreds of people and companies around the world resulting in hundreds of nonwoven netting patents - some of them actually worked!

These are the basic patents that formed the business.
 

US2,919,467 Mercer - 1/5/60 - Basic Diamond Net Process*
It shows the basic Diamond Net Concepts.  Many new and improved inventions followed.  This was the beginning of Netlon's international licensing.  Any licensee was bound to turnover any improvements to Netlon.

US3,252,181 Hureau - 5/24/66 - Basic Square Net Process
The basic concepts for extruded square nets are represented.  This inspired even more patents.  Rical began licensing internationally in about 1962.  Rical licensees were required to license back any improvements.

Wood Conversion licensed this patent in 1966.  The process continues to be used by Conwed Plastics to this day.

US3,917,889 Larsen - 11/4/75 - Basic Servo Control for Square Net
This closed-loop control system was used to attain state-of-the art extrusion speeds.

US4,123,491 Larsen - 10/31/78 - High Strand Count Square Net Process
This describes the extrusion and orientation of high strand count Square Net.
